During our Oyster Safari we will take you to the exposed mud surface of the Wadden Sea. About 300 meters from the coast, we explore the oyster banks and collect Wadden Sea oysters directly from the seabed.

This tour is not just a gathering tour; it is a holistic experience where you will also gain insight into the fascinating history of oysters in the area, from its royal significance to the modern oyster adventure. We share tips and tricks on how you can cook your newly collected treasures.

When we finish our oyster safari, we take our collected oysters with a trip to the Marskdistillery where we will learn and cook oysters over a fire. There will be plenty of opportunities to taste many different preparations and the atmosphere of the island's very own distillery creates the perfect setting for a tasteful event.

What's included

  • Pick all the oysters you can carry.
  • Original nature guide from Black Safari

Practical information

  • Duration: Approximately 2 hours. (4 hours if you choose the gourmet event)
  • Dressing: Recommended to be practical, warm and wind and waterproof. Rubber boots are essential.
  • Carry: Bucket for oysters, a handle for digging for sand mussels, as well as gloves (e.g. neoprene gardening gloves, possibly waterproof). Consider changing clothes.
  • Safety: Oysters and clams are collected and eaten at your own risk. We visit an oyster bank in the cleanest area of the Wadden Sea for a safe experience.
  • Meeting point: The parking lot at Muslingevej/Kommandørkaj, Havneby, 6792 Rømø.
  • **Gourmet event: ** After the oyster safari we drive in our own cars to Havnebyvej 24, 6792 Rømø.
