Breakfast buffet at Klostercafeen on Torvet with morning song and mood musicby Visit Rømø & Tønder
Kloster cafe
Danish, German, English
The monastery café, is referred to as Tønder's oldest house. This magnificent late Gothic gabled house, known from the Middle Ages, is believed to have been built in 1520 as a guild house for the Kalende Brotherhood of Tønders. The house is today Denmark's only preserved calendar house. Calendar houses were used for
consumption of food and drink after church services. It is not known when the calendar guild ceased, but guilds were banned in Denmark from 1618.
