Canoe trip through South Jutland!by Visit Rømø & Tønder
A canoe trip on Brede Å is the ideal activity for everyone, regardless of age and experience. This experience offers something for everyone, whether young or older, experienced or beginner. We offer different routes for your sailing: Tour 1: This 7.5 km long route takes 2-3 hours to complete and takes you through the idyllic South Jutland countryside. The tour starts at Ellum Bygade and ends in Bredebro. Tour 2: With a duration of 4-6 hours and a length of 15 km, this route guides you through varied landscapes such as heaths, forests and urban areas. The starting point is Lobækvej, and the tour also ends in Bredebro. Tour 3 (must be booked by phone) 2 day trip: Designed for the adventurous, this route is ideal for those who want a longer trip with the possibility of overnight stays in Bredebro. With a length of between 27 and 35 km, this tour ends at the gate of the Wadden Sea in Ballum (Ballum Sluse). Tour 4: This approximately 22 km long route takes 6-7 hours to complete and takes you from the top point of the stream to Bredebro, this tour offers the absolute most beautiful of South Jutland. During the canoe trip on Brede Å you will have an amazing nature experience in beautiful South Jutland. Enjoy the silence and beauty of the landscape as you paddle along the creek, surrounded by marshlands. Since the Middle Ages, oysters have been scraped in the Wadden Sea, from 1759 they were packed and stored in the oyster warehouse at Kiers Gård in Højer before shipping, among other things, to the Russian court. In recent years, Pacific oysters have taken over the banks of the Wadden Sea. Our experienced nature guides will take you out to the oyster banks at low tide, where we pick all the oysters we can eat. Eating Pacific oysters straight from nature's pantry is an unforgettable experience. We also pick well with oysters to take home to Højergård. From the oyster banks it goes back to Højergård, where with a committed food guide you learn how to open, cook and eat oysters in exciting and tasty ways in the kitchen or over an open fire. Situated between its more famous neighbours Ribe Å in the north and Brede Å in the south, Brøns Å offers an enchanting fishing experience where the stream flows into the Wadden Sea. It is the perfect place for those who want to explore new fishing spots, especially during the late summer days. The creek is known for its excellent fishing opportunities, especially for salmon, sea trout, and brook trout. In recent years, salmon have made a comeback, and anglers catch impressive specimens every year. In addition, the creek has a robust population of pikes, making it a diverse fishing spot for enthusiasts. The Fisheries Association for Brøns Å med tillør offers various fishing licenses, including day passes, week passes and annual memberships that cater to both casual visitors and dedicated anglers. This initiative ensures sustainable fishing practices and helps preserve the ecological balance of the creek. Whether you are an experienced angler or just want to try something new, Brøns Å offers a quiet and rewarding fishing adventure amidst Denmark's stunning scenery. Rules for Brøns Å *Conservation Times: * Brøns Å is fully protected during the period 1 November to the end of February (both days inclusive). Day card sales begin April 16. The Vidaa Fishing Card opens the doors to the breathtaking Vidå, which flows through South Jutland from the confluence of Arnå and Hvirlåå at Emmerske, just 3 km east of Tønder town, and on to Rudbøl. This unique river, which is enclosed from start to finish, presents anglers with a wide range of fishing opportunities, ranging from quiet co-fishing for peacock and eel to the more adventurous fishing for salmon and sea trout. With its versatility from still flowing waters to more flowing sections south of Tønder, Vidåen invites you to diverse fishing experiences. Fish species such as sea trout and salmon are particularly popular, with most caught from April to October using spinner, wobbler, fly fishing and worm. An increased rise of salmon has also been noted in recent years, which bodes well for future fishing trips. For fellow fishermen, Vidåen is a true paradise with one of Denmark's most species-rich fish stocks, including eel, perch, roach, bream, suder and rimte, making each catch an exciting surprise. Especially the quiet stretches downstream of Tønder town and around Lægan boat harbour are popular, and for those with access to a boat, Magisterkogen from Lægan to Rudbøl lake offers fantastic opportunities. Pike and walleye also thrive in Vidåen, where pike fishing in Magisterkogen in particular has developed with great success. Both door fishing and fishing with baitfish are recommended for pike, while evening hours offer good chances for walleye using natural bait and dredging. Off-road electric wheelchair rentalby Visit Rømø & Tønder
If you are a poor walker or are in a wheelchair, and have a desire to come with your family around the Rømø trails, a walk in the forest or a walk along the water's edge on the beach, then it is possible now. At our tourist office Juvrevej 6, Rømø it is possible to rent an all-terrain electric wheelchair. The chair stands in a trailer (750 kg. M. brakes), which are just enough to buckle after the car if the trip first has to start on the beach, or you can start the trip directly from here. There are detailed instructions both for unloading the chair from the trailer, as well as the use of the chair itself. Everything is done with electricity so that it can be managed by one person. The seat height is slightly higher than that of an ordinary wheelchair, so it requires little movement to move, or otherwise be able to move yourself. Max. speed is 6 km/h which corresponds to walking speed. One charge reaches about 4 hours/24 km. The chair can be rented for 1 day, 5 weekdays, 1 week or a weekend (start Saturday at 10.00/end Sunday at 20.00)

The seal trip takes place at low tide, where the seals gather to gorge on the dry-laid high sand. Rømø with bunkers, breeding birds and historyby Marskture
Join us on an exciting adventure tour of Rømø, where we share the nature and culture of the island. Rømø and the Wadden Sea are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and offer some unique and sometimes completely unexpected experiences. You will get very close when we take you down to the bunkers of Tvismark Plantage, where we see running tracks, shooting stations, radar systems and garage bunkers. Some are large and easily accessible through a secured door. In others, you have to crawl to get in. \ Children and adults love these trips in a secret universe you might not otherwise see. Come down into the “underworld” and discover the last vestiges of the Nazi era. From here we continue to Denmark's widest beach at Lakolk. At low tide, it's above a\ kilometres wide and in the transition between beach and dunes breed Dwarf terns and white-breasted parakeets, which are some of Denmark's rarest breeding birds. The tour ends at Rømø's only church - Sct. Clement's church there is very much marked by the Maritime and Commodore era, about 2-300 years ago. The three side naves of the church bear witness to the great population growth that came on the island in connection with the Greenland trade in the 17th to the 19th century. Nine church ships inside the church are an expression of the great importance that seafaring has had for the island. The altar, chandeliers and hat hooks tell us about the wealth that was on the island in connection with the whale and seal catch in the Arctic Ocean, and a memorial tablet points to the losses the island suffered in connection with 1. Black Sun Tour — Marsh Toursby Marskture
GUIDED BLACK SUN IN BUS In the last 6 years we have had a success rate of almost 100% when it comes to seeing the beautiful ballet of the starlings. The starlings move and it can be difficult to find them on your own. Of course, we can not guarantee that you will see Black Sun, but almost. For the past 6 years, our guests have seen the beautiful dancing of the starlings every time. *WHAT IS BLACK SUN? * Black Sun is a truly unique natural phenomenon that can be seen in spring and autumn, when starlings on the move gather in large flocks for the night. Especially in Tøndermarsken in southwestern Denmark. Just before the starlings descend to earth for the night, the large flocks form patterns in the sky that nearly eclipse the sun, hence the name black sun. Black sun can also be experienced outside the marshes, but not to such a pronounced degree. The phenomenon, which lasts for about twenty minutes, usually ends no later than an hour after sunset, when the starlings have settled down in the roof pipes. The overnight flocks in Tøndermarsken can sometimes accommodate more than 1 million birds. If they grow larger than 500,000 birds, however, they usually split up. The reason why starlings fly in flocks is not known exactly. One theory is that starlings are myopic and have forward-facing eyes, meaning they may have difficulty detecting enemies. Their eye placement is ideal when it comes to focusing on an object, a food item, in front of them, but less advantageous when enemies need to be detected. In large flocks, starlings are probably better able to repel attacks from birds of prey. BARREL MARSHAL The Tøndermarsken in southwestern South Jutland is approximately 2,500 hectares. Denmark's largest contiguous meadow area. The marshland has a rich bird life and a very varied flora. In Margrethe Kog there is a saltwater lake with many wading birds. The landscape is characteristic of the marshlands along the North Sea. Water levels in large parts of the unique Tøndermarsk were lowered in the spring of 2009 because farmers diverted the water away from the area. The high water level otherwise benefits the important bird life in the area. The Danish Ornithological Association has previously complained to the EU about Denmark's administration of the Tøndermarsken, and in 2003 the EU Commission took the first step of bringing a case against Denmark to the European Court of Justice. After some improvements were introduced by the public sector, the European Commission decided in November 2012 to close the case.
