Under 1. World War II, the German navy had an airship base north of what was then German Tønder. The airships monitored the North Sea and conducted bombing raids on England. In July 1918, the British attacked the base in the world's first successful air raid by an aircraft carrier.
There are still traces in the landscape of the giant airship halls and soldiers' barracks, and an aircraft hangar from 1916 still exists. Join museum inspector René Rasmussen on a guided tour following the traces of the events of world history.
Length of the trip approx. 3 km. in hilly terrain. You have to wear good footwear and be able to “climb over” a fallen tree trunk or two. Not available for poor walkers.
